Sustainability Trend Talk With LA Textile Partner Peclers Paris
What current trends are you seeing at Peclers with Sustainability?
Designers are looking to incorporate sustainable materials and consumers are desiring essentials. Re-invented classics will also emerge.
Is there a new sustainable practice that you forecast as the “next big trend”?
Sustainability will be expected on some level from consumers going forward, however the evolution of the “green movement” will be the “blue movement” which puts people at the center, placing a spotlight on the fair treatment of workers and acceptable working conditions.
How can fashion brands adapt to the increased demand from consumers FOR Sustainable brands?
There are a lot of different ways brands can incorporate sustainability into their business. What is most important is to know you don’t have to do it perfectly from A to Z for consumers to recognize your efforts. “As Sustainable As Possible” or A.S.A.P. is what we advise. This can include sustainable fabrics, dyes and washes, manufacturing locally to reduce the carbon foot print, sustainable packaging and trims such as hang tags, are all ways a brand can start to incorporate sustainable practices.
What colors and fabrics do you feel will lead in Sustainable Fashion for Summer 2020?
Sustainable Fashion isn’t separate anymore but rather a thread that runs throughout all markets. For Summer 2020, we’ll see a lot of greens, terracottas and a range of browns and neutrals influenced by sustainability.
