From the UK to LA: Pongees, the Destination for Luxurious Silks
Pongees was founded more than 90 years ago in the UK and is the first choice for beautiful plain dyed, embroidered and jacquard silks, including tulles, chiffons, crepes, douppions and organzas, available with a 1m MOQ.
Their silks meet the exacting demands of couturiers, fashion, bridal and lingerie designers and manufacturers, luxury retail brands, costumiers, event organisers and interiors specialists.
NEW AT PONGEES
Pongees continues to introduce new colours and designs – the latest of which is a range of douppion tartans.
In addition to pure silks, Pongees offers mohair and velvets and are continually working with mills to offer new 100 per cent pure silk or mixtures with other natural fibres to extend the collection.
Shade cards, individual or combined into a catalogue, as well as swatches, are available.
SILK & SUSTAINABILITY
Silk is sustainable in two key contexts:
Mulberry trees, which provide the main diet of the silk worm, are replanted and grow in soil much like the cotton plant.
Additionally, there has to be a sericulture system to allow the whole process of silk worm production to continue (otherwise there would not be any silk).
